Reagent for CD4 Lab Tests at Good Shepherd Hospital, Siteki

Club Champion - Daran Rehmeyer

In 2011-2012, a country wide shortage of the reagents needed for monitoring the CD4 white blood cells in HIV+ patients created a situation where proper monitoring and initiation of patients on Anti-Retro-Viral therapy was impossible.  CHIPS, a programme in the Lubombo Region of Swaziland which helps over 400 patients with their HIV treatment, asked specifically for help so new patients could be initiated based on CD4 and not on clinical manifestation of HIV/AIDS.  Reagent was purchased and donated directly to the lab at Good Shepherd Hospital to help alleviate the problem.
